Thunder
Thunder is a competition base group for swimmers 13 and up, it consists of 3 levels: Thunder I, Thunder II & Thunder III.
Thunder I - Elite Group
Thunder I is a competition based group for swimmers ages 15 and up who have achieved outstanding performance and dedication to USA Swimming.
Qualifications include:
- Aim to qualify for National level meets
- Sectionals Qualifier & Achieve qualifying T-30 results
- Demonstrated dedication to USA swimming
- Must attend USA meets throughout the year & maintain seasonal IMX score
- 5 practices per week (2.5 hours each, 4 PM to 6 PM)
- Member of High School Varsity Team / High School Graduate / College Student
- May not participate in summer league as an athlete
Thunder II
Thunder II is a competition based group for swimmers ages 14 and up.
Qualifications include:
- Member of High School JV or Varsity swim team
- Placed by the Head Coach
- Focus is primarily high school swimming
- Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year
- IMX score encouraged
- 5 practices per week (1.5 to 2 hours each); 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM)
Thunder III
Thunder III is a competition based group for swimmers ages 13 and 14.
Qualifications include:
- Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year
- IMR score encouraged
- Focus on technique with introduction on training methodologies
- Up to 5 practices per week (1.5 to 2 hours each; 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM)
Lightning
Lightning is a competition base group for swimmers between the ages of 9 and 12. It consists of two levels.
Lightning I
- Ages 11-12 with IMX score
- Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year
- Focus on technique in an atmosphere that promotes learning and fun
- Up to 5 practices per week (90 minutes each; 6 PM to 7:30 PM)
Lightning II
- Ages 9 - 10
- Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year
- Focus on technique in an atmosphere that promotes learning and fun
- Up to 4 practices per week (75 minutes each; 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM)
Rain
RAIN is for school aged children up to age 8 ready for a competitive environment. Swimmers are expected to participate in USA meets. Training is age appropriate and fun, however, swimmers must be disciplined enough to participate in structured swim training.
- 3 practices per week
- 60 minutes each (6:30 PM to 7:30 PM)
Swim 101
An introduction to competitive swimming for swimmers aged 12 & under who are new to the team. Swimmers will spend up to one month in this group and will move to their regular practice group on the coach's recommendation. Instruction will focus on pool etiquette, pool safety, and introduction to drills.
