Shark School Swim Up & Swim Up to Summer
Swim Up is for elementary school-aged children who have the basics of all four competitive strokes but want to improve their technique before joining our competitive team or their neighborhood swim program. With very few exceptions we do not take children younger than age 6.
Requirements: Level 3 Shark School or equivalent:
- Competent in freestyle and backstroke, including flip turns
- Competent in breast stroke and butterfly, including correct kick and timing
- Racing starts
- Familiarity with IM, including turns
This program has a fun environment with age appropriate drills to encourage skill development. Participants will refine all four competition strokes plus legal starts, pullouts, and turns. They will also receive instructions in the proper performance of the 100IM. Instructions will take place in a lane of the pool at James E Taylor High School in Katy, Texas.
Quick Facts:
- Class runs from Feb 1 through May 24
- Practice location at James E Taylor High School Natatorium; Katy TX
- Two practices a week (Monday and Wednesday)
- 5:15pm to 6:00pm
- Requires registration with USA Swimming ($30 per year Flex Athlete)
Cost:
Current Shark School participants (requires coach recommendation) - $90 (cash/check discounted rate) per month with no additional registration fees
Swimmers new to the team - $125 per month (cash/check discounted rate) which includes Power registration fees. Requires $30 Flex Athlete registration with USA Swimming
A tryout is not required for summer league swimmers but registrations will not be accepted without first contacting the Shark School Manager to discuss placement. Swimmers who do not meet Swim Up requirements will be offered a place in our summer stroke clinics. We do not take swimmers under the age of 6. Fees are non-refundable.
